Halloween

Good day folks,

First, I would like to tell everyone my academic studies of year 2009 is officially over! No more lectures, no more tutorials, no more notes, no more study, most importantly, no more stress!! Now I am going to enjoy 150days of freedom a lot.

Before I forgot, WARNING!!! A long post with some not-me pictures. But you'll enjoy it.

Happy Hallowe'en!! Don't correct my spelling. Its suppose to be spelled like that. Since I've some plan going tomorrow morning, I won't be able to go trick-o-treat, not to mention the Hallowe'en party around Melbourne's clubs and bar. Anyway, to at least express some H-feelings, I am going to wear orange and black today.

Many costume party in town too. I am very much curious in costume for H. What in mind is, the vampire dead bride in "Mean Girls" where Lilo wore it to the H party. Anyway, I Google and found tons of costumes listed under H costume. Isn't H suppose to be scary? Why are people wearing sexy and cute?

Like this one (Left picture). Going for a cheer camp Ms Paris H.? And this one (Right picture). Holding a 'fork' doesn't make you scary. Especially not with tinker-bell wing behind.

A little effort in it(Left picture), but its not Toy-story's day guys.

BUT, I found some really scary H costume, and I do like them. It makes me think that going to a party with people who doesn't mind to be ugly and scary should be so much fun then with those who dress up in cute, sexy, hot and adorable costume just like every other costume party. Make a difference please. Its Hallowe-en!!

The zombie doctor! (Left picture) and The maid with head on hand or plate? (Right picture)See, at least they make an effort for the celebration.

But most scary Hallowe'en costume? I always have in mind. Its going to be her. If anyone remember, last year, Heidi Klum wore a scary outfits for H. Question, which one is the real hand?

Advice: Don't go trick or treat wearing like this, you'll either get a big fat punch in face, or arrested because the person scared to death.

till then, Happy Hallowe-en! Trick-or-treat! Trick-or-treat! Trick-or-treat! Trick-or-treat!

xoxo

Exam Week

Next paper in 22 hours. Investment. A big whole 13 chapters.
Approximately 900 pages of reading. Process? Untouched. FML.

It is an open book exam. Does it help? I think not. Answer needed are the sense in application of theories and formulas in your own words. My words? Oh, no where near what's in textbook. Pure academic phrases and vocab. Right, so not my words.

Yet, here I am.

If notice above, its my first time using FML.

After reading numbers of FML ended tweets. It starts to annoy me, very much. Just like people ending their sentence with WTF. I mean, really, what the f*ck is that? I don't get it. I really don't. Certainly, misused.
Yesterday's paper is harder than past years.
I disappointed myself for the bad time management that causes at least 15marks boom! just like that, and the fact that I did not practice enough for the "log" "In" "e" functions, Lagrange functions and some derivatives which are heavily weighted in this year's paper. Anyway, its over and the feel of guilt and disappointment faded after my half an hour swim at the sport center. So convenient isn't it? Exam hall is at the tennis hall which is next to aquatic section. I am not that kind of people that would come out of the hall crazily checking their notes whether the answer or steps are right or wrong. I am not that kind that will think about the subject after I have sitted the paper. It just doesn't bother me already. Right or wrong, I've done it, and that's it. Not like you can rewind and change it. So, move on and stop thinking or even talk about it.

I promise myself not to log in facebook for the next 8 hours. Spot the difference is taking up lots of my time. Not going to update my blog till Friday too. I need focus on the next two paper which is on Thursday and Friday. So, wish me luck and pray for me =)

Tuesday

First Paper

Good day folks,

Sorry for the lack of updates.
My weekend is pretty much just quantitative analysis which includes all calculus, statistical analysis and financial mathematics. This post took me days. Have been writing bits by bits everyday during my short 10 minutes break every 2 hours. Should have been done and posted up if I wasn't playing facebook's spot the difference and cafe world =P

Last night was so exhausting. Did questions, then the past exam. Got 81 out of 100. Which is merely credit. Honestly, disappointment hit on me. I worked really hard. Mathematical field is just not me, well, we don't have good relationship since young. Children in my family always laugh about it and blame it on genes. Believe it or not, relatives and siblings that share the same surname as me, we are all bad with numbers. Didn't have much luck on it. Blame the genes!

3 hours to my first paper. I am not 100% on it but I've had enough. Too much will cause inverse effect. So I am going to relax, calm my mind and nerves. Perhaps spending time on this unfinished post. Had planned to go swimming after this exam as the swimming pool is just 2 minutes walk from my exam hall. I need some activity. Perhaps dinner at Sakura after that.

Friday

Friday Night

Thank God is Friday?

I don't think so. At least, not when my Friday night and foreseeable weekend is pretty much like this ....

Four thick ass textbooks, all for my Quantitative Analysis ONLY.

C is going to Manchester for the weekend. No web-cam study hours to motivate me. But I'll be fine, you go enjoy yourself, kisses and hugs. And Y, I sent you an email.

For the rest of you, enjoy your weekend (:

Wed Cupcakes

Hey Hey, its Thursday!

I should be studying now. 3 more chapters and I am done with Investment revision. Fully revised. But the lazy mood kicked in. Sigh. International Trade and Quantitative Analysis still behind, untouch. How am I going to stuff everything in my brain in 4 days? I have no idea. Trying hard, and trying harder not to take any Redbull shots. Tempting. Wanted to switch it to coffee. I heart coffee. However, I promised myself not to take any coffee untill exams are over. Like what the hell was I thinking!!

Took a short break and found a very attracting picture at Yahoo!AU under the Bridal section. Don't even think about it yet. I am attracted to the web by the following picture! Obviously its not the real wedding cake. Its the wedding cupcakes! I think they are for the guests. So now I have two idea to put in my wedding cater, ferrero roche and cupcakes. Fun-tastic!

Now, back to books and notes ):

p.s Tried KFC's Chocolate Cornetto Krushes. Nom nom nom... Yummy!

Laundry Day

Good day folks,

Tuesday night is always my movie night for the past few weeks. I have a list in hand on movies showing that I am interested i.e. 500 days of Summer, Funny People, Fame, G-Force. Instead of going to the movie, I chose to stay home and make today my Laundry Day.

I don't think I've mentioned my dirty clothes has been piling up and I've divided them into two topped up baskets. Its not smelly, not yet, but I like doing laundry once a week, at least. As I got a feeling that the following days will be packed with studies and gym session, I might as well give up a movie night to get them cleaned.

Four years ago, I never do laundry in my life. My first time using the laundry machine is pretty easy. Read the instruction, and do the job. It take times to be good at estimation and measurement on how much detergent and softener to use, but now, I enjoy doing laundry very much. Although I have to go to the basement of my apartment to do it. I'd grab a book with me and wait for the laundry. Sometimes, I'll just go back and surf the net until it's done. Its a happy duty for me.

Studying abroad gave the opportunity of learning to live independently. Honestly, I've been doing a great job at that. From cooking, laundry, paying bills, cleaning, everything handled by myself. Sometimes, I am very proud to be independent. Doing all these, I've discover that; cooking is fun and interesting, doing laundry is enjoyable, cleaning keeps you activate and paying bills just training up your responsibility. This is definitely a great experience in my life. I have so much fun and learn a lot when I am on my own.

Nevertheless, I miss my family and few close friends.I miss having someone to depend on, to take care of me, for me to be care-less :)

Monday

Study mode:ON

Its going to be a long week for me.

Lecture slides, notes, textbooks, different colour of highlighter and post-it notes are all over my study area. So much to cover and be fully-prepared for my finals on next week, yet so little time to be confident and positive on my answers. And this is going to continue till I get home. Longest holiday in four years, beginning of November to early March. I've planned out what to do and where to go. Expecting big expenses but it is definitely going to worth it. November confirmed itinerary is Thailand and Indonesia. Very excited for the massage and little shopping spree in BKK. And can't wait for the gossip catch-ups with J in Indonesia.

Till then, I shall stick myself and sleep in my living room, where I've turned it into my study room. Tried to reduce my internet usage to just blogging, msn chatting and twittering. But even that, is taking up lots of my time. Maybe I should just focus on my study and abandon the technology for two weeks. Think I can survive that? No, I don't think so.

Surrogates

How do you save humanity, when the only thing that's real is you?

Director: Jonathan Mostow
Producer: David Hoberman, Todd Lieberman, Max Handelman
Studio: Touchstone Pictures
Starring: Bruce Wills, Radha Mitchell, Rosamund Pike, James Cromwell
Genre: Science-Fiction/Fantasy

Many comment on the action part, some said its just another "too much technology can harm" lesson. What I see from this movie is reality. It is true that we are all depending so much on technology now than before. It is true that some people snuck at home with their machines. It is true that technology helps building better life, but overly use/depending on it, humanity seems to be covered by it.

Surrogates, isn't facebook/myspace and other social networking site our semi-surrogates? These applications sure have done some bonding of relationships between people, but at the same time, it reduces face-to-face/in-person contact which suppose to be an important part in building a truthful and respecting relationship between one an another. Surrogates portray everyone with another identity. Of course it may sounds cool, and perhaps safer. But what is under it? It is a lie to everyone, including self. Losing yourself too. I wouldn't say Surrogates is a fantastic movie, but the message it brought out is thoughtful. Can machine really take over humanity?? If it does, there is no fun anymore ; Where is the challenge, fun, spontaneous if we are all just a damn bloody machine?

Saturday

Hallo-ween

Good day folks (:

Woke up after 10 hours sleeps are so satisfying. To make it even better, web-cam with C while doing revision on Investment. This make the whole study part more interesting. Then we'd make fun of each other and took some screen shot which I certainly not going to post it here. I look retarded. Oh no, both of us look retarded, yet, there are two happy face. Despite time difference and miles away from each other, somehow, we manage to keep it close. That is a good thing. Now, I am going to semi-force Y to do that with me too! My closest girl since age of 14.

About the background image of my blog, its a purple and black Halloween theme. Because 31 October, Halloween, so I sort of make it fit the day. Too bad it fall in exams week. Anyway, it doesn't bother me much. I gave up on booze and loud music long time. So it won't make big difference. But I am thinking of pampering myself with Spa Massage & Facial on that day. Perhaps, with my favourite French manicure and pedicure too. That is much more interesting and loving than all the partying. Furthermore, most of the girls are studying their ass off for the following three weeks, I see no possible to drag them out, will be feeling guilty to do so too. Hence, no Halloween celebration - its no fun partying without my girlfriends (:

Outdoor-Study

lecture notes, towel, beach, sea breeze, sun, sunscreen, shades and myself.
That's my "study room" ;xoxo

Couples Retreat

It may be a paradise, but it's no vacation.

The movie is directed by Mr Peter Billingsley, written by Vince Vaughn, Jon Favreau and Dana Fox.

The scenery alone is worth the cost of a ticket price. Bora Bora was a beautiful location to film at and added that much needed taste of paradise to a rather bitter sweet subject of a troubled marriage. The key to a happy marriage involves falling in love over and over again with the same person. A very thoughtful message in the movie is about fighting to make marriage work despite the hardships that come in any relationship. A pleasant romantic comedy, likely to delight, provided you're willing to put your brain on pause for a couple of hours.

假裝. Pretender

Morning blogger-la vista ;)

Something shot in my mind last night before I tuck myself in bed.  And I want to share with you. I am truly sorry for those who couldn't read/understand Chinese, but I don't know how to rephrase them in English. So, lets keep it original.

I wrote them myself, 100% original from my wandering mind. Would be very much appreciate if anyone can translate them into English =]

Kill Me Please

Post title pretty much said it all. You want explanation?

Well, I was watching videos at youtube when I saw the song with my Chinese name, but has been translate and sang in Hokkien. I was sick of the Chinese version because when the song first came out, many sang to me. But this one, definitely not what I expect.

So, kill me please.

Tuesday

5 years

"Oh my, how long have I been blogging?"

This question popped in when I am absent-mindedly writing down steps of solution for Quantitative Analysis. Last class of my semester, and yet, I can't pull myself together to focus entirely on it. Count-downing 14 days to my first paper. Yes, Tuesday of two weeks later. Am I ready for it? Honestly, not even close, I need to put in a lot of time and greatly divided between subjects. Investment is freaking me out by a minimum 40% out of 60% must be achieved to pass the course. WTF. Like I have not enough pressure over statistics and calculus from Q.A. Haven't mention International Trade, more than 10 graphs to be build depending on developments from previous and economist perspective of explaination are essential key to pass. Great. I am aiming for distinction and now, they are telling me achiving pass is tough and hard. Not helping at all.

Anyway, back to the question popped. I've checked my archieve. I started this writing journey in 2004. Five years. Once asked, ever want to be famous blogger like xiaxue or kennysia? It would be a lie if I say no. But that's just a moment of want-to-be-famous like everyone wants now and then. I didn't want here to be commercialize. I don't want to get paid for blogging, although it might be a career opportunity. I simply like this place to be a post-it notes. Where I write what I feel, what I see, what I read, what I think. Not too personal, its not my diary, its just something I would love to share with people care enough to read my words. Thanks for reading, I truly appreciate.

Assignment-free

Hi there,

Finally submitted my final two assignment of the semester. 24,385 word count for Investment Company Valuation Analysis and a double-sided 16 pages of Quantitative Analysis. I felt very much relieved. And I think I did great on both =] So, pampered myself with 2 magazines - 1.Good Health; 2. OK! - which a total cost of A$11.

Was out the other night to Brunswick, met this adorable cat at the lane. She is pregnant, I can see her big roundish tummy sticking out. She ran towards me, fearless, brushing my hand, being an angel baby. My guess is she was hoping I would take her home. I am sorry baby, no pets allowed in my apartment, it is stated in the residential agreement =[ BUT, I still love you little thing. When I have my own place, and pets are allowed, I am so going to adopt a puppy - toy poodle and an American short hair kitten.

Real Life Heroes

One thing I adore very much about Hayden Penettiere is her consideration, involvement and dedication in Save the Whales! Campaign by The Whaleman Foundation. She has been showing a lot of love and passion over it. Her dedication to save dolphins and whales,  I would say charming and beautiful.

The following is Hayden Penettiere's blog on behalf of The Whaleman Foundations.

Over the last two weeks, there has been a lot of misleading and confusing information being reported from Taiji Japan. Some reports went as far to say the brutal dolphin drive fisheries had ended for good. Some stated that no dolphins had been killed at all. Others reported that all the captured dolphins had been freed. I wish that this were all true, but sadly, this is not the case.

The brutal Taiji dolphin hunts officially started again on September 9th when thirteen fishing boats left Taiji’s harbor around 5:30AM and located a large group of about 100 bottle-nose dolphins and 50 pilot whales, which they promptly surrounded and drove them into the capture nets.

The fisherman then brutally slaughtered all the pilot whales, which are members of the dolphin family, the larger cousins of the bottlenose dolphins, and are also, ironically, the same species that were being slaughtered in Taiji nearly 2 years ago when I along with 5 other activists including fellow Whaleman Foundation and Save the Whales Again! Campaign spokesperson’s Isabel Lucas and Dave Rastovich, paddled out in the blood filled waters. Last week, the tranquil emerald waters of Taiji’s notorious killing cove, a Japanese National Park, were once again turned blood red.

The news concerning the bottlenose dolphins was not as grim. Of the 100 or so captured, about 30 were selected for sale to captive marine parks for as much as $150,000 each while the fisherman, for the first time ever, released the other 70 bottlenose dolphins back into the wild this past weekend, sparring their lives for now.

But there has been no official end to the hunts and this may have been only a one-time gesture by the fisherman to relieve some of the international pressure and outrage they are getting due to our collective actions starting 2 years ago and being yet gain intensified with the release of the documentary film “The Cove”.

Even though the release of some of the bottlenose is a good first step, we must not overlook the fact that the fisherman brutally slaughtered all 50 of the captured pilot whales and the 30 or so captured dolphins that are to be sold into captivity will see their average lifespan shortened from 30 - 40 years in the wild to surviving less than 6 years in captivity.
Getting this information out to the public at large while educating and getting this information out to the Japanese people is key. Most Japanese citizens do not know about these hunts and the fact that over 20,000 dolphins and porpoises are being slaughtered every year by Japanese fisherman because the Japanese Government is suppressing this information.

Even though Taiji has received the most attention where over 2,000 dolphins are killed each year, nearly 18,000 Dall’s porpoise are slaughtered in the brutal Japanese offshore harpoon hunts every year which unfortunately gets very little attention, so we hope to change that starting right now! Dall’s porpoise are so cute, they look like little killer whales, and we need to stop their needless slaughter as well as end the Taiji slaughter.

Also, most Japanese are also unaware that dolphins, whales, and porpoises are the most contaminated animals on the planet.

Their meat is highly contaminated with Mercury, DDT, Dioxin, and other contaminates and is unhealthy for human consumption, with pilot whales being one of the most contaminated. Extremely high levels of mercury have been shown to cause birth defects, neural damage, and even death so they should not be slaughtering any of these amazing creatures for food.
I’m not going to rest until we stop all dolphin and porpoise hunting and end commercial whaling but I can’t do it with out your help so please organize all your friends, family, and classmates and get them to sign our petition and support The Whaleman Foundation, and if you haven’t seen The Cove, go see it! The time to act is now!! Its time to Save the Whales Again!!

Thank You,
Hayden Panettiere

The Changes

Hey, hey, its Saturday!

Great weather =] Beautiful blue sky, cotton pieces clouds, bright sun shines! Perfect day to grab a book and read at the beach, and so I did. B were exceptionally happy to be under the sun, tanning proceeded, exclude me please. To be frank, I love the warmth of the sun spraying over my body, but not without sun screen. Not a big fan of tanning because mostly I'll end up with the "maid-looking" skin tone instead of the hot tanned one. Bad for me.

Dinner at Matsumoto Japanese Restaurant at Brunswick East with T and H. Enjoyed the Matsuya Set as usual, still love their green tea ice cream topped with red beans the most. Its heaven of tongue. We had casual conversations and somewhat shared discussion about my decision to do a year of diploma or something equivalent in UK, boyfriend-less. Its not what I normally do, first and last, I am not a believer of long distance relationship. But when I clear of some insecurities and insert more faith into relationship me and B are having, maybe its not impossible, maybe its a step ahead. I don't know. There is lot I have to consider. Till then, lets focus on my finals =]

Love Ain't Miracle

Hello lovebirds

Its been a rough week for me. Assignments deadline. I'll get over it before next week =]

It has been four days since my last pool activity. To my surprise, I miss swimming. Hence, after a long day on all the researches and papers, I'd managed to got T and B to swim with me at the leisure center. Had a great hour and half there.

Many says love is a miracle happen between humanity.

Watched Matthew McConaughey and Jennifer Garner's [ Ghosts of Girlfriends Past ]. Its quite a meaningful one. Cut the craps about bad guy gone good, just like other M movies. BUT, this one actually got me thinking.Favourite quote from the movie, said by Connor Mead,

" Someone once told me that the power in all relationships lies with whoever cares less, and he was right. BUT, power isn't happiness, and I think that maybe happiness comes from caring more about people rather than less."
That is true happiness I must say. Caring, the key in Love is what matters after all. Love ain't miracle, its something you choose to feel. Even though you get scared and probably hurt, but take the risk. You wouldn't want to go through the pain with regrets of walking away from love.

Octo-rush

Good day folks =]

Starting of the weeks and I am already exhausted. Investment assignment is a real bitch. Have been doing more than 10,000 words but its only half of it. I am effing tired of it. B finals are ending next Tuesday, but mine is not starting until 27 October.

Something I would like to bring in for awareness and maybe requiring a little help if affordable. Children, teenage, young adult, whoever doesn't pay the bill yourself, I suggest you spread the issues, don't swipe your parents credit card for donations. Maybe you can convince your family and relatives in helping =] Any way you are doing this, I appreciate, and thank you.

It all started when I want to do something, something good. My first steps is be an on-going supporter with monthly donations for the UNHC Refugees. REMINDER, its from my savings, its where I spend less and use my pocket money wisely. Now, after several natural disasters had happen in past few weeks, my heart told me, I want to help World Vision in recent emergencies for tsunami in Samoa, typhoon in Philippines, and earthquake in Sumatra, Indonesia. Then, I want to be a volunteer for the National Breast Cancer Foundation in selling pink ribbons to help raise money for the foundation. So many that I want to do, yet it all happens in October - the busiest month of the year. October means assignments deadlines, hardcore revision hours, final exams nightmare and packing to go home. The least I can do is to bring it up here, if anyone come across and interested, click on the organizations name, help these people. Thank you.

Monday

BCA month

Hey =]

I've changed the templates, again. Tried to find a pink ribbon background, but its seems to be a little too much if I put it up here. So, I picked this pink polka dots. I'd mentioned few days back, October is Breast Cancer Month. Many at my age don't have much knowledge on this caner which starts in the breast in the inner lining of the milk ducts or lobules. Not even myself. Hence, I do some research on it to at least have some basic understanding on it.

Breast cancer is an uncontrolled growth of breast cells happens because of mutations or abnormal changes in the regulating growth of cells' genes. A tumor can be classified into benign or malignant. Benign tumors are not dangerous to health, they are not cancerous, growing slowly and they do not invade nearby tissues or spread to other parts of the body. Malignand cells are the potential dangerous one that eventually spread beyond the original to other parts. Breast cancer is caused by genetic abnormality, which 5-10% are inherited from mother or father and 90% happen as a result of aging process and lifestyle.

Risk factors:
controllable
- overweight especially after menopause
- diet (control intake on red meat and animal fats)
- exercise 45 minutes to an hour 5 or more days a week
- alcohol (it limit liver's ability to control blood levels of hormone estrogen)
- smoking
- stress and anxiety
uncontrollable
- being a woman
- age ( age 30-39 1 in 233, age 60s 1 in 27)
- family history
- past history of breast cancer
- race ([High]White women - [Medium] African American - [Low] Asian, Hispanic, Native American
- radiation therapy to the chest
- pregnancy and breastfeeding

Signs and symptoms:
- typically, a lump that feels different from surrounding breast tissue
- changes in breast size or shape ( when you're not at the changing age)
- skin dimpling
- nipple inversion or single-nipple discharge

Taco Fresho

Hello everyone.

Today is the start of Breast Cancer Awareness month. One of ladies most fear sickness. Everyone, be nice to each other, especially to the ladies =]

I have been thinking to do this for a long time but never put it in action. I look cooking. And it would be great to share it with others. As a perfectly spoiled kids back home, my cooking skills developed few years back, when I've officially become an international student, studying abroad, no relatives, no maid but myself. Then, I started to like it. Its most satisfied when others compliment and enjoy your cooking. It makes me happy. Although the clean up part is a bitch :(

As for my very first recipe on blog, I picked the easiest which I called it - "Taco Fresho". Its basically a traditional Mexican dish. Its easy and perfectly healthy. To know more about Taco, CLICK.

Ingredients - Lettuce (Option), 2 x Tomato, onion, cucumber and goat cheese. You can replace the goat cheese to others if you don't like the smell. Just not ashes cheese.

Most important, we need wheat tortilla or a pocket pita. Without this, its not Taco.

Processing - Cut onion, cucumber and tomato into small size cubical shape. Use a salad bowl, or biggest bowl you have to carry.

Then, add two full tea spoon of goat cheese. You can replaced by adding salt and pepper.

After that, mixed them using a spoon. Or like I do and prefer, two clean bare hand.

Option: Have lettuce cut and ready aside

Then, cut your pocket pita or wheat tortilla into half. Put them in dry pan, and fry them till its crispy. Remember, NO OIL!!!!!

Lettuce as base. As pita may be having holes due to your cut and fry. And it avoid leakage of your mixture. You don't want everything to fall from the back :)

Then, put your mixture above and fill it up! As much as you like.

A little bit of me =]

TIPS: Shave the cucumber if you don't like the bitterness of its skin, but it hold the nutrients.

And my bunch of tulips. The wrap is purple, but somehow, it turn blue here :s
